Filet Mignon with sauteed Mushrooms

* Vegetable oil cooking spray
* 2 (8-ounce) filet mignon steaks
* Kosher salt, garlic powder, and freshly ground black pepper
* 3 tablespoons olive oil
* 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
* 2 Tbsp butter

Steak: Put an oven rack in the center of the oven. Preheat the oven to
400 degrees F. Spray a small baking sheet with vegetable oil cooking spray.
Set aside. Season the steaks with garlic powder, salt and pepper, to taste.
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the steaks and
brown on all sides, about 4 minutes. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet
and bake for 10 minutes for medium-rare doneness. Let the steaks rest for
5 minutes on a cutting board.

Mushrooms: After the steak is in the oven, wipe excess oil from the frying
pan, then add the butter and mushrooms and simmer on low. Stir occassionally
while the steaks are cooking. Garnish the steak with the mushrooms when serving.
